Champion Petfoods (2022)IT Communications Contractor
Champion Petfoods is a global leader in pet nutrition. The company produces pet food brands ACANA and ORIJEN from its headquarters in Edmonton, Canada, with kitchens in Canada and the United States. I led the planning and implementation of an internal communications process for the company's IT department. The goal was to create a digital space where the IT department could share newsletters and cyber security tips, as well as provide departmental updates to the entire organization. We used components of agile methodology for project management and the Prosci ADKAR model of change management to ensure that the right people were included in planning, creation, and implementation. I created content calendars, style guides, workflow overviews and other governing documents. I also trained staff on how to follow and evolve the new process going forward. Together, we successfully launched a process for creating, publishing, and analyzing content for more effective and transparent communication within Champion Petfoods. |

The Kids Brain Health Network is a registered nonprofit that supports early identification, intervention, and family support for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as ADHD, autism, Tourette syndrome, and cerebral palsy. I was contracted during an organizational transition, and my main duties were akin to a communications manager. I lead the communications team throughout the contract period, working towards the organization's 2021 Kids Brain Health Conference. During my time with the organization, I provided communications guidance and support for internal teams, contract writers, graphic designers, consultants, and 3rd-party affiliates. I helped establish an effective editorial workflow that focussed on the organization's purpose, voice, and goals. I also fulfilled content and communications requests for the organization's bilingual website, managed contractor invoices, and planned and published social media campaigns, email campaigns, and UX testing initiatives. |
